Report from outbound Exchange Student Abby McDougall in France:

I am so sorry about sending my report so late. This week has been hectic! I visited Paris for the first time at the beginning of November for a EUROPE1 radio story. School is long and busy, and with a lot of work I’ve managed to love somebody classes , although the director refuses to move me solidly into an older class for all of my time. Now I am in seconde, premier , and terminale classes. One thing I have noticed is that for the french culture it is not normal to go and visit visit friends on The weekends very often, which is one part of the culture I can’t say I am fond of, along with people here having more classical views on gender( the boys are allowed to have a LOT more freedom). So most of the time I only see friends at school because my family ( who I adore ) is very set on me spending the majority of my time with them. I can converse very easily in french now and to my amazement I’ve been complimented on my accent. My family is always kind and helping me with my french and I love them. I am always with them , sometimes I struggle to find time alone but it’s okay. Christmas preparation has already started, and as far as clubs go I am part of a film discussion club to improve my vocabulary and am taking fitness classes several times a week with my school in three different grades. My favourite food is potatoes with fondou’d cheese on top which you melt with a special machine . Soon it’s time to start shopping for my family, I am really enjoying it, yesterday was my 100th day and i am amazed at how real it is.

Connecting Kids with Nature Challenge

R Daphne introduced Sandi and Corrine of Lower Trent Conservation.

Connecting Kids with Nature Challenge

Sandi and Corrine visited Stirling Rotary earlier in the year with this program and came away with a cheque for $1,600 and a challenge from Stirling to other Rotary Clubs in the area. Challenge to provide funds and / or sweat equity.

Funds go to children's programs such as environmental education.

2 ENSS students have won awards for their ideas to promote and educate. Awards go to both students and class / school.

Annually they host Tri-County Children's Water Festival. This is a two day event held at Batawa Ski Hill to teach kids about water conservation. About 500 kids each of two days.
