Stories
Club Forum Sept 8 2017 New Generations
Club Forum - New Generations from 2014
•More interaction by club members with our exchange student is needed.
•Our Youth exchange student needs to be more involved, not just show up at BBQ’s and events. They should have a couple of minutes each week to talk about their week and maybe a new word they have learned.
•Doing very well – Youth Exchange, RYLA, Interact, Camp Enterprise.
•Might be beneficial if school staff became Rotary members or at least participated more with the Club.
•It would be nice to see more of our exchange student, they were once required to come to our meetings then head to school; it seems now we see them when they arrive and then when they leave. Perhaps they could help the morning greeter and show up at more events.

New Exchange Student Emmy shared some of her story:

Emmy is from a town of 26,000, near Oslo Norway.
She has 3 younger sisters.
She has traveled a lot in Europe as well as to Kenya.
Emmy studies fitness in sports class as well as normal courses.
She has wanted to be an exchange student since she was 10. She heard of Rotary through a friend of her mother.
She started learning English in grade 3. She also speaks German.
Her hobbies include - sports (soccer is favourite), swimming (she is an instructor for young kids).
Canada was her first choice.

Emmy will prepare a 'bucket list' of things she would like to do in Canada during her year.
