  • Brighton Rotary Auction and Dinner May 11, 2019
  • Brighton Rotary is 30 - June 2019.
  • District Conference next year - Rotary Muskoka Style at JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka Resort and Spa - October 25 - 27, 2019. Early registration fee $299. Rooms at special rate of $135 / night while they last.
  • No Frills Raffle planned for March. Duty roster being circulated. We start the weekend of March 22 leading up to Easter.
  • Northumberland Rotary Music Festival in 2019. They are looking for photographer for first week of April. May be small cost to clubs.
  • Brighton / Colborne Rotary Clubs joint application to send an ENSS student to Adventures in Citizenship in spring 2019 accepted.
  • Camp Enterprise for 2019, May 2 to 4 at Trent University. Looking for sponsors, mentors and drivers.

-           about Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)
-           an international summer gathering of young people in leadership camps/seminars in various countries
-           these are informal out-of-doors weeks with challenging programs of discussion, inspirational addresses, leadership training and social activities for personal development, leadership skills and good citizenship
-           these events can be known as Camp Royal, Camp Enterprise, Youth Conferences, etc

A Brief History of the Rotary Club of Brighton
R Dan gave a brief history of the Club
 
-           Al Romberger (sp?) instigated the idea of a club
-           committee formed in 1988 to form a club in Brighton
-           30th anniversary year 2019
-           sponsored by Colborne Club
-           applied for a charter
-           got 25 members and received a charter
-           Bob Briden was the first president
-           meetings at first were Monday mornings but then moved to Fridays
-           location moved back and forth between The Gables and Douglas
-           1989 women joined Rotary
-           in the 90s the club grew to about 60 members
-           moved to the Legion for meetings
-           selling Tilley hats was a good fundraiser for a while; sold them at different venues
-           auction dinner was begun, and grew over the years
-           the essential character of the Brighton Rotary is a club of enjoyable meetings and mutual support in support of local and international causes
