Rotary at Pride Toronto Parade 2023!

Our PDG Mary-Lou Harrison is organizing the PRIDE parade!

Sunday, 25th June, 2023. Members of the Rotary family (and their friends and family!) are invited to march in a spirit of celebration and inclusion in the Pride Toronto Parade! We have a marching permit for up to 100 people, and we hope you will join us with your friends and family!
Our participation is more than just a celebration of Rotary's commitment to and action on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. It is a message of support to people around the world, including in our own organization, who cannot fully be and express who they are without fear of discrimination, violence, imprisonment, and even death.

Final thought:
Grandma: Back in our days, you could buy bread, milk, soaps, spices, eggs, meat, all for a dollar.
Little Kid: You can’t do that now. They have CCTVs everywhere!

If R Murray did it over he would sleep in Wednesday mornings.

R Steve shared a story of a desperate man walking across a desert. He was parched. He had no water. Then he came to a man selling 'ties' and asked if he wanted to buy a tie. No, he asked for water but there was none. He was told there was a town 40 miles where he could get water. The next day the thirsty man was back, still wanting water. He said they would not let him in the restaurant where he could get water without a tie.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
At Rotary, we understand that cultivating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture is essential to realizing our vision of a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change.
We value diversity and celebrate the contributions of people of all backgrounds, across age, ethnicity, race, color, disability, learning style, religion, faith, socioeconomic status, culture, marital status, languages spoken, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity as well as differences in ideas, thoughts, values, and beliefs.
Recognizing that individuals from certain groups have historically experienced barriers to membership, participation, and leadership, we commit to advancing equity in all aspects of Rotary, including in our community partnerships, so that each person has the necessary access to resources, opportunities, networks, and support to thrive.
We believe that all people hold visible and invisible qualities that inherently make them unique, and we strive to create an inclusive culture where each person knows they are valued and belong.
In line with our value of integrity, we are committed to being honest and transparent about where we are in our DEI journey as an organization, and to continuing to learn and do better.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement
Passed by the Rotary International Board of Directors, January 2019 and revised by RI DEI Task Force 2021
