NOW IT IS TIME FOR OUR REMAINING DISTRICT 7070 CLUBS TO REFRESH THEIR CLUB WEBSITE. IT'S TIME TO GET YOUR CLUB NOTICED.
Web Design Professional, Rotarian and ClubRunner expert, Melissa Wells, Ex Nihilo Website Designs (www.exnihilodesigns.com), manages the ClubRunner Website refresh program for each Club.
Here is how the refresh program works  Upon completion of the attached application (https://rotary7070.org/page/website-re-fresh-amp-training-program ), Melissa will contact your Rotary Club to arrange a Zoom kick-off meeting to discuss design and content goals. Each Rotary Club has a minimum of the same two Rotarians participate in both the Kick Off and Training Meetings.  There is no limit of Rotarians to participate in either or both meetings.
The ClubRunner website Refresh program will be offered on a first come, first serve basis, as completed applications are received by Melissa. And a number of District 7070 clubs have already signed up.
Following YOUR CLUB'S Kickoff meeting, Melissa will complete the redesign work and you will immediately see the fresh new results in your Club Website. Part of the website redesign is to ensure your Club Website works on mobile devices as an important factor in younger potential members to view your website.
Once the redesign work is complete, Melissa will provide a one-hour Zoom training meeting that will be recorded as an ongoing resource for your Club. The Training meeting will provide the information and helpful tips for you to keep your website fresh and up to date.  6 hours of Melissa’s time is allotted to the 2 meetings and redesign time.
Cost- $300 plus HST.

Smile: blush

Compliments of Rudy:

The boss walked into the office one morning not knowing his zipper was down and his fly area was open.
His assistant walked up to him and said, 'This morning when you left your house, did you close your garage door?'
The boss told her he knew he'd closed the garage door, and walked into his office puzzled by the question.
As he finished his paperwork, he suddenly noticed his fly was open, and zipped it up. He then understood his assistant's question about his garage door.
He headed out for a cup of coffee and paused by her desk to ask, 'When my garage door was open, did you see my Jaguar parked in there?'
She smiled and said, 'No, I didn't. All I saw was an old minivan with two flat tires.'

Happy Bucks: lots to do before Monday and heading south for 3 1/2 months, really happy to live in Canada, good to here about life in another country, breakfast with happy community, very informative talk, presentation, to see Michael and Audrey, coming to end of coats for kids, living here, to be here, how good we have it.

Rotary Minute:

Become a Host Family
Can you provide a welcoming and accepting environment for a Rotary Exchange Student? Are you willing to share your values and encourage the student to learn about our country and language?

The Rotary Youth Exchange Program promotes peace through cultural understanding, tolerance and good will - one young person at a time. Be apart of this incredible force.

We know real families come in all shapes and sizes. Big, small, no children, working or retired couples. All are perfect to be a host family.

Explore another culture without ever leaving home. Host families are needed to provide a home for a Rotary Exchange Student for a period of 3 to 5 months.

Stories
Living in China
Past R Michael had no introduction, he stepped up and took the floor.

Michael worked and lived in China for a little more than two years. He was working for a Belleville firm EMS Tech who design and build ship loaders and unloaders with a lot of components and building done in China. Audrey was with Michael and taught for the last year. They lived in a luxurious building.

Today's presentation was primarily about life in China.

China is third largest country in the world with a population of 1.4 billion people. He showed us how China on a map looks like a rooster. China was primarily an agricultural country with many small farms. During the Second World War, Japan was able to walk over the country because they had no defenses. They vow to never let that happen again so a lot of their actions are to prevent an invasion again.

China claims sovriegnty over the South China Sea. Many other countries dispute this.

China is communist. Cuba the only other communist country now. However, business in China is more free market / capitalist so long as companies follow part line. Big companies have to have party member on their board.

Mandarin is the official language but there are 56 cultural areas in the country.

Yuan is the currency and the government keeps it pegged to the US dollar so very stable.

China is very poor, but very advanced at the same time. They have lots of people to be able to throw at a project and make things happen.

China is very polluted. It is like living in garage with car running, the door is down and you can't get out. Most times there is no clear sky, only a question of how bad smog / haze is each day.

The people don't know geography of their country very well. They have good highways and elaborate subway system but colour coded and can be followed.

They eat everything, every part of an animal and many different animals.

You can't go anywhere without a lot of people around. And the government tracks everyone's movements.

A lot of canals to transport big loads. All geared to industry in the east. But all waste goes into the water.

There are 200 cities the size of Toronto, all with airports. Very organized. You have to show Id to take bus or train. Very tight control of flight paths until over ocean.

The people are hard working and artistic. They love English and America at least on individual level. Lots of smokers.

Government is afraid of religion and fear they can't control people of faith. Churches exist and meet, but Chinese Nationals cannot meet in Church or even talk to foreigners on street of the same faith.
