R Daphne introduce Ian Douglas, Brig. General Retired.
 
Brighton Army Cadets were started in September 2000. Corps 100. 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion.
 
Ages 12 - 18, both boys and girls. The young cadets learn form the older cadets. They teach leadership.
 
They are partnered with the Canadian Advanced Warfare Centre at CFB Trenton.
 
They fundraise to pay expenses for activities and equipment. They have tag days, poppy fund, service clubs and both the Brighton and Colborne Legions. Also the clothing depot.
 
Cadets went to the 70th anniversary of D-day, to Juno Beach in France.
 
The cadets are split about 50/50 between boys and girls. They won silver medal at Eastern Ontario's biathlon last year. They participate in events such as 'Float your Fanny down the Ganny' and white water rafting.  They take canoe training and they volunteer around town such as doing clean up and honour guard at cenotaph during remembrance day. Also Vimy Ridge commemoration annually.
 
Their present enrollment is 35. Has been as many as 60. In 2019, they are raising money to go to Alberta. They need about $2,200 per cadet.
