Treasurer R Chris

Financial statement to February 28, 2019 previously circulated to members.
Cupboards are bare, we need to raise funds if we want to be able to give.

R Chris encouraged members to sell diners and duffers books, No Frills Raffle tickets, and auction tickets. The auction is our major annual fund raiser. We need everyone to help and do their part.

In keeping with Brighton's monitoring of lottery rules, Rotary now has a separate 'trust' account for licensed fund raisers such as the No Frills Raffle. There are restrictions on how this money can be spent.

R Daphne gave an overview of Camp Enterprise:

Camp Enterprise is a Leadership / Business camp for high school students aged 16+
It has existed since 1986. The Northumberland Rotary Clubs organize and recruit students from areas high schools. Goal is for 64 students who stay at Trent University for 3 days. They stay in Lady Easton College. Cost to students is $50 each. The Rotary Clubs pick up balance.
They hope to have 13 students from ENSS.
Presently they have 42 students registered, want minimum of 56.
Dates - May 2 to 4.
Students participate in business workshops, marketing and negotiations.
They are looking for speakers, mentors and entrepreners.
Mentors, usually 2 to team, work with students, typically first day they teach, second day they mentor, third day they watch.

R Murray reviewed the upcoming Fishing Derby. Rotary has been working with Trenton Kiwanis for about 15 years on this major Kiwanis Fishing Derby in the Quinte Region. There are 8 or 9 fish weigh stations from Brighton to Picton to Napanee. Kiwanis pay us $1,500 to staff the Brighton weigh station in Gosport. We in turn have partnered with the Brighton Knights of Columbus to split the shifts / work and share the fee. There are 11 four hour shifts from midnight May 3 to 4pm on Sunday May 5. We work in teams of 2 to weigh and record fish, and witness live release. There is expected a training session at a Trenton Kiwanis meeting the evening of April 25th. This year we plan to utilize our trailer rather than tent (due to winds blowing tent down in recent years). Murray has duty roster for shifts.

R Ricardo gave an update concerning Youth Exchange. Eloisa is planning to stay until August 8th.
Rochelle in Taiwan is doing well and plans to return home in June.
Ethan Taylor is getting anxious to here from Sweden where she will be going in August as our next outbound.

In March we donated:
$500 to the Wheelchair of Hope and plan to present cheque to John Cairns April 5.
$300 to Brighton soccer club.
