R Daniel introduced Lloyd Hutchison. Lloyd was born on a farm in northern Brighton Township, a middle child of 10 children. He first attended a one room school house and graduated from ENSS in 1976.
 
He had various jobs before becoming a custodian with the school board for 24 years.
 
In 1998 he joined the Brighton Volunteer Fire department and became the first paid Fire Chief in 2010 until 2018.
 
Lloyd plays golf and hockey and is involved in the community sitting on several committees including the Police Services Board and the Events Committee. He is also involved with the Stirling antique tractor group.
 
 
 
Lloyd first explained about Municipal committees. Each term of Council sets up various committees for their term. Lloyd applied for the events committee in 2018 and was elected as chair. They have a good committee and work hard. The committee is made up of residents, a couple Councillors and staff. They follow the same agenda structure and rules as Council. They have a terms of reference to follow and budgets to keep.
 
This year they are extending the Concerts in the Park for 3 months starting June 1 to the end of August. The Committee members are playing more of a host role providing introductions to the band etc.
 
The committee is responsible for the Citizen of the Year which will be announced at Canada Day as well as the sports hall of fame recipient.
 
Canada Day this year will include the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. There will be special purple and silver fireworks. There will be a booth with people with knowledge of the Queen. Also music in the evening uptown, face painting and balloon sculptor.
 
They are planning Movies in the Park in August when there is less interference from the sun.
 
They are also planning for a Santa Claus Parade.
