Quinte Sailability Update by Fletch

Quinte Sailability is going into their 18th year. Brighton Rotary provided their first boat. They now have 11 sailboats and 6 sailboats and one coach boat all bought by Rotary Clubs. Their two racing boats are Rotary Way and Rotary Wave. They have competed from Halifax to Vancouver and many Rotary boats across the country.
 
Quinte Sailability is at CFB Trenton and plan to put in lift at Trent Port Marina this summer.
 
Sports for people with disabilities helps with - strength, balance and endurance. Helps with their everyday living. Success in sports gives them success, they identify as an athlete. If they can sail, they can do other things so they expand their goals. They can break their glass ceiling. There is no speed limit on the water.
 
Quinte Sailability provides a 10 week training session during the summer months. They participate in regattas across the country, sailed in both oceans.
 
2018 budget = $27,551. Administration costs only $400. Big expense is for instructors and they need an instructor.
42 volunteers including 18 regular forces personel = 2300 hours
Cost = $38 for 1 1/2 hour lessons weekly.  Students are charged $11.40 whether they train for fun or racing.
