Correspondence:
  • Brighton Rotary has been asked to cook hot dogs at the Big Give planned for Saturday June 1 from 10am to 2pm. Suggesting 1,000 hot dogs.
  • RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) program. Cost is $950. Looking for sponsors and candidates ages 19 - 25. May 3 - 9.
  • Campbellford Trivia Night - Movie Trivia - Saturday April 13th, 2019. $100 entry fee for team of up to 8. Prizes, silent auction etc. Doors open at 6pm. Trivia starts at 7pm.
  • Quinte Sunrise Rotary Club is having Fish and Chips Saturday March 30th, 2019. $25 each. 5pm at the Dug Out.
  • Men Who Cook and Women Who Sizzle event in Port Hope March 30 by Rotary Club of Northumberland Sunrise.
  • Colborne Rotary is hosting special presentation and dinner Monday February 25th at the Keeler Centre. 6:30pm. Rotary Clubs of Brighton, Port Hope, Cobourg and Colborne nominated Jeff Kawzenuk for the D7070 Wilf Wilkinson Award for Peace. this nomination was made year ago for Jeff's work to engage local students with the Journey of Hope Project in Tanzania.

Announcements:
  • Board meeting at R Patty's home - Tuesday March 19th at 6:30pm
  • Brighton Rotary Auction and Dinner May 11, 2019. Theme related to Pearls and Tiffiny's.
  • Brighton Rotary is 30 - June 2019.
  • District Conference next year - Rotary Muskoka Style at JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka Resort and Spa - October 25 - 27, 2019. Early registration fee $299. Rooms at special rate of $135 / night while they last.
  • No Frills Raffle planned for March. Duty roster being circulated. We start the weekend of March 22 leading up to Easter. Draw will be April 14th.
  • Northumberland Rotary Music Festival in 2019. They are looking for photographer for first week of April. May be small cost to clubs.
  • Brighton / Colborne Rotary Clubs joint application to send an ENSS student to Adventures in Citizenship in spring 2019 accepted.
  • Camp Enterprise for 2019, May 2 to 4 at Trent University. Looking for sponsors, mentors and drivers. Eloisa wants to attend.
  • POD 3 has to get act together for March programs.

Eloisa's Report:
 
Eloisa shared some pictures of her winter trip to the Ganaraska Forest (Saturday Feb 16 to Tuesday February 19). This camp includes the inbound exchange students and the outbound students.
They went cross country skiing, made bannock, campfire.
Other students had a birthday cake for Eloisa.
Eloisa said she fell a lot on skis.
There was a competition between the inbounds and outbounds to build a fire and boil water. The outbound students won.
The ate a lot.
There was a talent show.
 
Eloisa is now staying with R Joyce.
She is taking the outdoor education course at ENSS. They had a day at Proctor Park.
She is going skiing in Vermont next week and taking some downhill skiing lessons at Bata Saturday.

50/50: $25.00 won by R Keith who donated it to Foundation. Keith's secret to winning was to spend $20 on tickets.
 
Happy Bucks:  a great weekend in Ottawa, hair raising trip to and from New Brunswick (only plane to land in St. John), wonderful trip to Florida, to be considered, keep it going, son's birthday today age 2, grandkids visit last weekend, if live to 100 they wish to live in Presquile and take walks with grandkids, help neighbours but hopes to get van back, family walk with dog on Presquile boardwalk, Rotary busy, days getting longer, looking to spring, Monday night event at Colborne, Key Lime pie story, mossy green sweater and signs of spring.
 
Rotary Minute: R Emily shared the Rotary monthly themes. I didn't get them all.

Notice of Motion:
 
Driving Simulator – Ed has sourced an alternative simulator that is easier to transport and cheaper. No trailer required. Fits in trunk of vehicle. Motion 2019-02-05: by R Dan to pledge $5,000 to the Driving Simulator brought forward by Ed J, conditional upon funding from other sources being sufficient to purchase the system. Second by R Victoria, carried.
 
There was some discussion concerning this motion. By-laws stipulate that an expense greater than $2,000 must be brought to the club for approval.
 
R Ricardo advised that outbound student Ethan Taylor is going to Sweden. It was his second choice.
R Ricardo was talked to Rochelle's mother, who says she is doing fine in Taiwan but is looking forward to returning home.
 
R Mark advised that Golf books should be available soon. Cost stays at $35 each for up to $3,500 in value. Brighton will get 120 books to sell. Cost to club about $6 each. R Mark offered idea to help sell books.
 
R Victoria offered some ideas about switching up format for Auction this year.
